camper code of conduct


Campers of the Midwest Diocese Camp at Gracanica are expected to review this Code of Conduct with parent/guardian and agree to abide by the rules. If a camper fails to follow any of these rules, they could be disciplined and/or sent home from camp at the discretion of the Camp Director. In the event that camper is sent home, no refund will be given. Following these rules will help camp be a safe, happy environment for all campers and staff.


BEHAVIOR

  • Camper will show respect to our church, clergy, camp staff, other campers, and camp property

  • Intentional property damage will be paid for by the parents/guardians of those responsible

  • Inappropriate behavior will be dealt with by camp staff and committee

  • Serious infractions of camp rules will result in immediate dismissal


CELL PHONES

  • Cell phones and electronic devices will be turned in at time of check-in and will be given to campers for use on field trips


CLOTHING

  • Camper will wear modest, appropriate clothing while at camp

  • If clergy or staff find clothing to be immodest/inappropriate, more suitable clothing will be required

APPROPRIATE CHURCH CLOTHING – GIRLS:

  • Dresses or skirts not shorter than knee length, shoulders covered at all times

  • No pants or shorts; no tops that reveal navel/midriff area


APPROPRIATE CHURCH CLOTHING – BOYS:

  • Khaki pants or dress slacks; polo or dress shirt with a collar

  • No jeans, shorts, t-shirts, gym shoes


CAMP CLOTHING

  • T-shirts or tops

      • No halter tops

      • No tops that reveal navel/midriff area

      • No vulgarity or profanity on any article of clothing

  • Shorts (appropriate length)

      • No shorts above mid-thigh, short shorts, etc.

      • No writing on the backside of shorts or pants

  • Jeans or sweatpants

  • Sweatshirt or light jacket

  • Undergarments

  • Pajamas

  • Socks

  • Gym shoes / running shoes

  • Sandals, slippers or flip-flops

  • Church shoes

  • Candlelight dinner outfit

  • Swim apparel (girls: modest one piece swimsuit; boys: swim trunks)

  • Beach towel


PACKING LIST NOTES

  • Church attire for boys prohibits jeans, t-shirts, gym shoes

  • Church attire for girls prohibits bare shoulders, skirts/dresses above the knee, gym shoes

  • Girls may not wear halter tops or those that expose the midriff

  • Girls may not wear shorts that are above mid-thigh

  • There is to be no writing on the backside of shorts or pants

  • Any clothing displaying vulgar or explicit language is not allowed

  • Campers in attire deemed inappropriate by a staff member will be required to change. If they do not have an alternate choice, appropriate clothing will be provided.


PROHIBITED

  • Inappropriate language of any kind is prohibited

  • Verbal or physical abuse and bullying will not be tolerated and will result in immediate expulsion

  • Smoking/drugs/alcohol are prohibited and if discovered will result in immediate dismissal

  • Food and drink are not allowed in dorm rooms at any time; all meals and snacks are provided by camp

  • No outside food or treats are allowed for health and safety reasons and if found, will be confiscated


SCHEDULE

  • Camper will follow camp schedule

  • Permission from camp director or staff member is needed to miss any service or activity

  • Lights out at 10 p.m. unless otherwise notified by camp staff or clergy


WELLNESS

  • Medication brought to camp will be turned in at time of check-in

  • Medication will be labeled with user’s name and instructions and administered by adult in charge

  • Camper must bring his/her own sheets, blanket, pillow and pillow case
